Paul Carboon, Business Development Manager, Outerspace Design
Paul has 30 years of commercialisation experience, in the technology sector. Paul brings a deep understanding of commercial and product management as well as product development and has been an executive for over 10 years. Paul has PMBOK in Project Management, MAICD, has completed CEO Master Class, and is a leader in biotechnology innovation. He currently serves on the Australian MedTech Manufacturing Centre and Paul is also an Honorary Fellow of Biotechnology at Melbourne University.
Matt Frith, Chief Commercial Officer, MedTech Actuator
Matt is the Chief Commercial Officer at the MedTech Actuator where he develops and drives the execution of strategies to ensure the long term growth of the MedTech Actuator, its programs, and its ecosystem across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. This includes supporting startup founders and developing and managing strategic relationships with key partners and stakeholders across public policy, health, and innovation ecosystems. Matt has coached and mentored over 100 founders, researchers, clinicians and health startups, connecting them with early capital and partners to de-risk and accelerate their paths to market.
Matt is also: Professor (Practice) at Monash University, teaching Commercialisation of Technology in the MBA; Founder & Director at kin8.
Matthew holds an MBA (Exec) with Distinction, RMIT University.
Erika Hughes, Commercial Director, Integra Systems
Erika Hughes has been providing her family business, Integra Systems, with her expertise in management, business development, strategy and marketing since 2001. In her role as Commercial Director, Erika ensures all pillars of the business are strong and drives the strategic direction of the company. Erika has been instrumental in building Integra’s new division, Integra TransForm, into a strong proprietorial division of the business.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Business from RMIT and a Graduate Diploma in Management Leadership from Swinburne, Erika has a passion for transferring her knowledge and insights in the areas of business transformation, manufacturing digitisation and circularity. Winner of the 2023 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame’s Woman Manufacturer of the Year, she has also been recognised industry-wide as a judge for the Women in Industry Awards and has been a guest speaker at many women in industry forums and industry knowledge-sharing events.
With her diverse knowledge and depth of experience across 20+ years in manufacturing, Erika now enjoys mentoring women in leadership as part of AMTIL’s Women in Manufacturing Leadership Mentoring Program launched in 2022.
Hitesh Mehta, COO & Co-Founder, Nutromics
Hitesh Mehta is the Co-Founder and COO of diagnostics start-up Nutromics.
Hitesh is a corporate consultant turned entrepreneur. He has over a decade of experience in healthcare consulting. His vision is to make healthcare more accessible and inclusive globally.
Camille Shanahan, General Manager, Jumar Bioincubator
Camille manages Jumar Bioincubator, ensuring we have a thriving biotech community of diverse biopharma and medtech startups with the support they need to accelerate product development. Camille leads the Jumar team, working closely with residents and biotech community; curating events and experiences that support of culture of innovation and acceleration. Camille also drives Jumar's contribution to the broader biotech ecosystem in Australia.
Camille has experience across clinical, scientific, business development and commercialisation roles in the biopharma sector, working in Australia and Canada. Camille has built on her academic medical research experience to facilitate the translation of Australia's world class research into clinical solutions. Camille has a strong track record in managing projects in early stage translational, STEM infrastructure and health policy. Prior to joining Jumar Bio, Camille held life sciences consulting and business development roles developing strong ties with biotech companies at all stages of product development and with key peak bodies including Ausbiotech, MTPConnect and BioMelbourne Network.
