BioMelbourne Network is proud to present a new approach to industry:academic engagement.
Breaking down the barriers, participants from research and academia have the chance to ask industry professionals all the questions that they might think are awkward, naive, controversial or challenging about all aspects of working and engaging with industry partners. The “Ask Industry Anything” forum is a chance to explore the myths and misconceptions of working with industry, create a greater understanding of approaches to building relationships and foster a networking environment for open dialogue and exchange between industry and academic communities.
The objective of the event is to increase the connectivity between Melbourne’s industry and academic communities by talking about the issues and challenges around collaboration. There is an increased recognition of the need for greater collaboration between industry and researchers, which requires increased dialogue; greater communication and cultural understanding of how partnerships work. Academic organisations want their researchers to have more exposure to the needs and expectations of industry, especially at the early-to-mid career level, to showcase the strengths of their organisation. Industry wants greater access to the talent and capabilities within research organisations, to connect with researchers who understand the needs of partners. This event will create an environment for that encourages a greater dialogue between industry and academia that empowers people to form relationships and drive innovation forward.
