Healthcare system transformation in India has seen tremendous industry growth and innovation, particularly in response to the demand for digital healthcare solutions.
The overall Indian healthcare market today is worth US$ 100 billion and is expected to grow to US$ 280 billion by 2020, rising alongside economic prosperity and increased consumer demand for innovation and new healthcare products – especially digital products. This is creating opportunities for collaboration, licensing deals, market entry and investment opportunities for Melbourne-based partners, broadly across biotech, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and digital health.
The first in a series on global market opportunities, this BioBreakfast event will explore the barriers and opportunities and emerging trends in the rapidly changing healthcare landscape in India. Our speakers will share their insider views on their experiences and how to develop productive relationships for engagement in the India biotech/health/pharma sector.

Kumar was born and raised in India.
He has lived and traveled the length and breadth of the country and worked with some of India’s largest communication companies holding board and senior management positions. He launched India’s first retail marketing company. He is fluent in several Indian languages.
After India, Kumar worked in the UK for a global Communications Company and his remit covered all of Western Europe developing strategies for major brands, M&A, business development and training.
He migrated to Australia in 1999 and was Partner at a CRM strategy firm before taking up consulting roles. Until recently he was senior partner for a UK based consulting firm.
Kumar has maintained close ties to the Indian business community and travels frequently to India on work.
Hayden is the Chief Technical Officer and Co-founder of Health and Patient Services, creator of GPP a social based electronic health record system for the low income population of India.
Over the past 3 years he has been working and honing his knowledge in the digital health space. He is experienced working with various platforms, designing electronic medical records systems and has a developed a deep understanding of the global regulatory environment.
Hayden holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in finance, a Bachelor of Engineering majoring in mechatronics and a Graduate Diploma in signalling and telecommunications.
Hayden frequently travels to India and makes an effort to not only visit business contacts but to also experience the changes that are occurring in the health sector as well as the society.
Hayden has been a part of both state and federal based delegations looking into and discussing the ever changing Indian health sector and has provided advice to companies on how to approach entering the Indian market.
Rohini Kappadath brings over 25 years experience as a pioneer, corporate entrepreneur and advisor in sectors such as Information Technology, Management Consulting and Professional Services. She is the Victorian Winner of the 2015 Telstra Business Women's Award in the Corporate and Private category. Rohini is the Chair of the Multicultural Ministerial Business Advisory Council, appointed by the Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, the Hon. Philip Dalidakis, where she is leading a transformative agenda to showcase Victoria's ethnic diaspora advantage - and their special role in lifting Victoria's trade and investment links with the region.
Kappadath has built an international career working with organisations in Australia, India, Singapore, Japan, New Zealand and North America across diverse industries, particularly Information Technology.
An Information Technology veteran, Kappadath first worked as a Mainframe Computer Operator at the Toyota-owned York Motors Data Centre in the late eighties. She subsequently built a 13 year senior executive career with SAS Institute's Australian subsidiary. SAS is a global multi-national in Business Analytics and the world's largest privately held software company. In 1996, Rohini established SAS Institute's subsidiary in India as its Managing Director following a 10 year stellar career as SAS Institute Australia.
Rohini has since facilitated a number of cross-border collaborations, joint ventures, distributor arrangements, new market entry strategies and other related activities in her own International Consulting business, Oyster, first established in 2002.
Kappadath was previously, Pitcher Partner's Director, Cross-Border Business, where she led the development of a growing cross-border advisory business within Pitcher Partners. She has been a national advocate for Australia's engagement with the Asian region.
As the Director-General for Indian Institute of Directors (IOD) in Australia, Rohini plays an active role in promoting trade and investment in the Australia-India corridor.
She is a regular commentator on TV and mainstream news media.
