Research Australia today released it’s pre-election statement, outlining six actions Australia’s next government needs to take for a stronger economy and healthier Australia, including:

  • Greater transparency for the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF)
  • Addressing the decline in NHMRC funding with a 3% annual increase for the Medical Research Endowment Account over the term of the next Parliament
  • Unlocking the potential of health data by supporting the My Health Record and implementing the Productivity Commission’s recommendations to improve the availability and use of public sector and private data.

They have also included actions on clinical trials, funding for the indirect costs of research, supporting Australian health innovation and support for rare diseases. Read a full copy of the statement.
