Senior Pharmaceutical Business Development / Licensing Professional

Our Client

Our client is an international life sciences company developing and commercializing new pharmaceuticals.

The Opportunity

The Company is seeking the services of an experienced Senior Business Development / Licensing Professional to join its small Business Development team in Melbourne.

Reporting to the Business Development Executive, this role will develop, secure and expand commercial opportunities for the company’s technology by:

  • Applying scientific and commercial insights to develop robust value propositions
  • Organising and leading interactions with potential and existing customers and partners
  • Creating leads through means such as cold calling, marketing campaigns, visits, attendance at conferences, etc
  • Negotiating and executing complex commercial agreements
  • Managing new and existing relationships to optimise commercial outcomes including development of new opportunities through existing relationships
  • Contributing to the development of strategic direction for the company, including through the preparation of business cases and other analyses
  • Independently representing the company’s technology and its possibilities to create and develop commercial opportunities
  • Develop and maintain an awareness of commercially-relevant IP matters including for competitive technologies.

The Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant commercial role in the life sciences sector
  • Dynamic and driven self-starter, motivated to succeed, with demonstrated experience in successfully negotiating and executing complex commercial contracts
  • Outstanding communication and selling skills and a natural affinity with people to build rapport and present technical scientific information to experts in their field
  • Articulate and able to think on your feet when operating with existing and prospective commercial partners
  • Strong understanding of the business development / licensing process, term sheets and commercial agreements and a sharp strategic and analytical mind that can deal with complexity. Well-developed negotiating skills would be a definite advantage.
