Senior Business Development Manager

The Company

Our client is one of Australia’s leading and pre-eminent biomedical research organisation’s at the forefront of innovation. They have a commitment to excellent and investment in research, advanced technologies, and developing new medicines and diagnostics.

The Opportunity

Your key remit will be to manage the commercialisation of research, generating new opportunities for collaboration and partnership while also managing existing deals and contracts with internal and external parties.

  • Negotiate IP licensing and other types of commercial agreements with commercial, academic and government with guidance from BD and Entrepreneur Leads, and in collaboration with the Legal (Research and Business Development) team.
  • Develop and implement commercialisation and business plans with guidance from BD and Entrepreneur leads
  • Develop new partnerships and business development initiatives with external collaborators, related to the strategic plan of the institute, with other internal stakeholders.
  • Design and deliver presentations and pitches about the Institute, the research programs and translation opportunities to potential partners including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, capital and industry groups
  • Create, promote and present relevant seminars on specific business development areas at the institute, in conjunction with other members of the Partnership and Ventures team.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with other academic organisations, funding agencies and government agencies.

The Requirements

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with aptitude for interacting with a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders in government, industry, and academic settings
  • Tertiary qualification (ideally PhD) in life sciences discipline or equivalent, ideally complemented by experience in commercialisation or translational research
  • Strong commercial acumen and high-level experience delivering high quality outputs to agreed deadlines
  • Ability to form strong, productive professional relationships that deliver commercial success
