POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Project Information Officer will play a crucial role in digital projects, including the development of a new ‘Careers Hub’ – an important showcase of the medical research career opportunities within the healthtech industry in Australia. The Careers Hub will provide numerous practical resources, including visually engaging career mapping information, career stories showcasing the diversity present in medical research, a programme to match early-mid career researchers with dedicated mentors, and the development of a dedicated jobs board.
This knowledge navigator will be at the heart of it: focused on gathering comprehensive information on medical research career pathways through stakeholder engagement and desktop research, the Project Information Officer will collaborate closely with BioMelbourne Network’s Digital Platforms Manager, as well as technical and design teams to ensure the success of the project.
We’re looking for someone who can illustrate their abilities to understand complex information, and translate that into insightful information and clear direction so that we can best design engaging stories. Be warned: it will be hard to not fall down the rabbit hole of inspiration when you hear about the wealth of people and companies who are making a real difference in the world as they lead the commercialisation of life-enhancing and life-changing medical research.
This position is ideal for an organised individual with strong communication abilities and who thrives in a dynamic environment. This role includes flexible working arrangements, with our office based in the CBD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Information collection and collation
- Collect, compile, and analyse data/information related to career pathways, job opportunities, industry trends, and professional development within the medical research sector.
- Support the development of detailed career maps, profiles and career stories based on gathered data.
- Ensure data accuracy and relevance through fact checking and continuously engaging with sector professionals and updating information as needed.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify and establish connections with key stakeholders in the medical research sector, including industry professionals, universities, medical research institutes, and life science recruiters.
- Maintain and foster relationships with stakeholders to facilitate ongoing collaboration and data sharing.
- Organise and conduct meetings, interviews, and focus groups with industry stakeholders to gather relevant information and insights.
- Support the recruitment and engagement of mentors.
- Project administration support
- Provide project and operational support, including preparing, monitoring and reporting on project documents, scheduling meetings and coordinating project activities.
- Assist with delivery of project milestones and deliverables including online community aspects, jobs board, communications development, and mentoring program.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, health administration, business, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus
- Experience in project delivery or in the health and medical research industry is preferred.
- Experience in information collection and presentation is a plus.
