The Company

Medicines Development for Global Health (MDGH) develops medicines for neglected diseases. Our approach is to bring together the ideas of researchers with our development expertise and passion to develop new products that will be life changing for millions. We are a non-profit company with an innovative funding model – all funds in excess of expenses are devoted to this purpose.

Our team brings a depth of expertise from within the pharmaceutical and global health sectors in clinical studies, project management, pharmaceutical development, regulatory submissions and medicines access. With a growing product portfolio, we are expanding our clinical team to support current and future studies.

Head of Clinical Operations

As leader and trusted mentor of the clinical operations team (5 reports), you will work closely with Project Leaders to provide strategic input into the MDGH clinical program and oversee the many streams of clinical activity across different disease areas, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practice. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the MDGH clinical function, coordinating activities across the team to ensure optimal resourcing for projects.
  • Bring together clinical and other technical disciplines to ensure high quality protocol development, study execution and data interpretation.
  • Provide leadership for safety and quality data reviews and essential study documentation such as clinical study reports.
  • Ensure all activities are managed to agreed costs and timelines.
  • Lead the clinical team in developing tools for standardized reporting across MDGH clinical studies and continually improve and streamline processes.
  • Undertake hands on clinical project management for selected MDGH clinical trials as required.

Our ideal candidate will have extensive direct experience of clinical operations at a senior level, preferably gained in a pharmaceutical development environment. You will bring an excellent working knowledge of the regulatory environment and Good Clinical Practice, and the strong attention to detail that entails. You will also have outstanding team leadership skills, with a positive, can-do, problem-solving approach, and a record of delivering projects to meet targets and timelines. A relevant tertiary qualification in a science or health discipline is essential, with post-graduate qualifications in research and/or pharmaceutical development well regarded.

Our preference is for Australian-based candidates for proximity to the broader team, but outstanding candidates located in the Asia Pacific time-zone are encouraged to apply.

Why work for us?

This is a great opportunity to join a friendly, inclusive team committed to making a difference. We put people first, with a strong focus on employee well-being and professional growth and development.

MDGH is a place where everyone has a voice. We pride ourselves on our teamwork and openness, both with our staff and in our relationships with our partners, study participants, and other like- minded organisations where we share ideas and information to advance global health equity. We champion diversity, inclusion and equality, and encourage talented people from all backgrounds, abilities and identities to apply.

We are a work anywhere company, which means you can choose to work in the environment that works best for you to get the job done. But time-zones matter. We select outstanding candidates located in regions that make sense for effective team-work and life outside of work.

We offer a competitive market-based salary package tailored to country of residence including fringe benefits which are tax exempt for Australian based staff. The role is an on-going full-time position.

Some out of hours work will be required to work effectively across time-zones as required.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a police check and working with children check.
