MTPConnect, Australia’s life sciences innovation accelerator, and Biocom California have committed to working closely together to support the growth of life sciences companies, with the signing today of a Memorandum of Understanding at the 2024 BIO International Convention in San Diego.
The MoU was signed by MTPConnect Chief Executive Officer Stuart Dignam and Biocom California Chief Executive Officer Joe Panetta and witnessed by the Hon. Ed Husic MP, Minister for Industry and Science (left) who is leading the Australian presence at BIO.
The agreement will see the two organisations work together on collaborative programs and events, provide key connections and in-market support, exchange information on key issues and trends, and support for investment and trade missions between Australia and US.
MTPConnect CEO, Stuart Dignam says California is a leading innovation hub for the life sciences sector and this MoU is about making the right connections for Australian life sciences companies seeking to access the US market.
“We are delighted to formalise this relationship with Biocom California as our organisations share mutual industry interests to support innovation, fuel medical product discovery and advance human health,” Mr Dignam says.
“The US is the world’s biggest pharmaceutical and medtech market and Australia’s largest two-way investment partner and this agreement with Biocom California will help open-up new market, commercial and collaboration opportunities for Australia’s life science start-ups, SMEs and researchers.”
Biocom California’s Joe Panetta explained that the MOU is aimed at boosting collaboration.
“Biocom California has long standing connections with Australia and this new agreement with MTPConnect will foster deeper connections between the life science sectors in our countries,” Mr Panetta says.
“We look forward to advancing our work with the Australia life sciences sector, supporting companies to grow and develop their life saving medical products to improve global healthcare.”
MTPConnect is leading Australia’s mission to BIO2024 in San Diego, the largest biotechnology business partnering event in the world.
