Monash University retains its spot as #2 in the world for Pharmacy and Pharmacology

The 2021 QS World University Rankings by Subject, released today, ranked Monash University number two in the world for Pharmacy and Pharmacology for the second year running.

Pharmacy and Pharmacology remains Monash’s strongest performing subject area, ranked second in the world out of 856 universities considered in this subject across the globe.

The University has retained its long-held position as Australia’s and the Asia-Pacific’s number one University for Pharmacy and Pharmacology.

Since the subject rankings were introduced in 2011, Monash University has been consistently ranked in the most elite group of Pharmacy and Pharmacology programs worldwide, with an average top 10 ranking.

Professor Arthur Christopoulos, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, said: “To rank number two in the world for Pharmacy and Pharmacology for the second year in a row reflects the Faculty’s continuous drive to be at the forefront of pharmaceutical research, practice and education on the world stage.”

“As the experts in medicines and the way they interact with the body, pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists play a vital role in our healthcare system. Now, more than ever, the world needs these skill sets as we collectively tackle a number of global health challenges.”

Overall, Monash achieved rankings for 45 subjects out of the 51 assessed in the rankings program, which examined 1,452 universities globally. Monash also obtained a top 100 rank for each of the five broad faculty areas of Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Management.
