Melbourne provides a spark for Israeli tech startup SparkBeyond

29 August 2019

Israeli tech startup company SparkBeyond has chosen Melbourne – Australia’s Tech City – for its first office in the country.

Founded in 2013, SparkBeyond has built an artificial intelligence (AI) powered data analytics and problem solving platform for business and social impact. The company has rapidly expanded its global footprint with offices in Israel, New York, London, Singapore and now Melbourne, and works with leading Fortune 500 and ASX companies across a broad range of industries, including insurance, finance, pharmaceutical, life sciences and retail.

SparkBeyond joins 19,000 tech businesses already in Melbourne, including several Israel companies, that employ more than 117,000 people and generate revenue upwards of $36.6 billion each year. Critical to the long-term success of any technology company looking to enter a market is the availability of highly-skilled available talent. The company’s choice to establish in Melbourne is a strong vote of confidence in the pipeline of future talent that will ultimately allow them to respond to market demands for their solutions and scale at speed.

Arun Poojari, SparkBeyond’s General Manager of Asia-Pacific & Japan, said that “when thinking of new markets in which we can unleash AI for impact, Victoria offered us exciting opportunities to innovate and access talent not only in the commercial space but also the social impact space.

“The focus on applied research, such as the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, was a big factor for us selecting Melbourne,” he said. According to Amir Haramaty, SparkBeyond’s Chief Commercial Officer, the latest developments in AI can be used to help solve the world’s most complex problems. “Australia’s thriving business sectors are hungry for disruption. We’re eager to help our Australian partners solve their specific pain points with AI-powered problem solving,” he said.

Invest Victoria was proud to support the company’s entry to the Australian market after initial engagement with the company through the Victorian Government’s Trade and Investment Office in Israel.
