On Friday 17 May 2024, BioMelbourne Network hosted 591 amazing industry professionals at Connecting Women Lunch – our premier event of the year – and acknowledged remarkable women in healthtech.
This year we changed the format based on your feedback. We provided more time throughout the event for guests to network with peers and reconnect with friends and colleagues.
Many thanks to Bernadette Murdoch, from CSL, who was our Master of Ceremonies. She also presented the much anticipated video from our Premier Sponsor, CSL, profiling female employees who discussed their impact at work and in the community.
A huge thank you to Krystal Barter, from Humanise Health, for sharing your heartfelt story with Renza Scibilia, author and diabetes advocate at JDRF International, about the importance of accessing genomic screening to make informed decisions about breast cancer prevention.
This year, our three 2024 BioMelbourne Network Women in Leadership Awardees joined facilitator Dr Marguerite Evans – Galea ‘On the Couch’ to discuss their leadership and professional impact with everyone in the room. Thank you Professor Mimi Tang, Professor Michelle McIntosh and Dr Amanda Vrselja for your insights and candid comments.
Fundraising for breast cancer research
This year, our charity partner for the Connecting Women Lunch was Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, with all proceeds going to the kConFab Foundation, an amazing organisation that collects and shares specimens and genetic, epidemiological, medical and psychosocial data from families with a strong history of breast and breast/ovarian cancer with researchers working on ethically approved research projects.
