The Company:
The client of our BioMelbourne Network member mexec, is a Melbourne-based, ASX-listed medical device company transforming nerve repair and improving patient outcomes. They have developed a unique approach to nerve replacement by customising products to specific nerve replacement procedures that have clear advantages over existing products. With FDA approval on the first of many products, and more in development, combined with multiple distributors worldwide, they are on track to be Australia’s next MedTech success story.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the CEO, you will lead the full lifecycle of medical device products. As a technical leader with an innovation mindset, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to execute commercial strategy, drive business growth, and ensure regulatory compliance in applicable jurisdictions:
- Establish and execute the product development roadmap in alignment with company strategy, ensuring adherence to quality management systems and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Direct the entire product development process from ideation to launch, through effectively leadership of cross-functional teams including R&D, engineering, and clinical affairs.
- Identify target markets, customer segments, and competitive positioning opportunities, to inform, develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies for products.
- Build relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare providers, and industry stakeholders, and identify and evaluate strategic partnerships, licensing opportunities, and M&A targets.
- Create and manage pricing strategies and distribution models, analyse market performance and adjust strategies to maximize product adoption
The Requirements:
- At least 5 years’ experience in the medical device industry, ideally on various projects spanning research and development through to commercialisation.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, or similar; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Strong track record in both product development and commercialisation, with proven success bringing medical devices from concept to profitable market.
- Experience navigating regulatory pathways in major global markets and a solid understanding of what they require from applicants at each stage of the product lifecycle.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability in effectively leading and managing cross-functional teams in the medical devices industry.
