Dr Keith McLean and Theodora Elia-Adams Join BioMelbourne Network Board

BioMelbourne Network is pleased to announce the appointment of Theodora Elia-Adams and Dr Keith McLean to the BioMelbourne Network Board. Keith McLean was elected as a Board Director at the 2020 Annual General Meeting on 11 November, where Theodora Elia-Adams was also elected Treasurer.

Theodora Elia-Adams, elected as Treasurer, is an experienced Business Advisor, Tax Specialist, and a former EY Partner. Theodora is a proven leader with a reputation amongst her peers as a lateral thinker, adept at problem solving, risk identification and management, and effectively engaging stakeholders. Theodora was previously appointed to the Board as a new Director of BioMelbourne Network on 6 October 2020.

As a skilled Board Member and Company Secretary, Theodora has key skills in governance and quality assurance, finance and budget management, and risk identification and management. She has worked in the medtech, bioscience, construction, health, retail and banking, SaaS and wealth management industries. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Taxation from The University of Melbourne and is a Chartered Accountant and an Associate Member, Australian Institute of Company Directors. Dr Keith McLean, elected as a new Director, is currently a Senior Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO Manufacturing and Adjunct Professor at Monash University. In July 2020, Keith stepped down as CSIRO Director of Manufacturing, a position he held since 2014. At CSIRO, Keith led over 350 scientists and engineers developing solutions for high-tech Australian manufacturing, with a focus on Australian and global companies.

Keith holds a Ph.D. in industrial microbiology from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He has held positions as a Board Member of the CRC Polymers, Biomedical Research Victoria, HySSIL Pty Ltd and veski, is a Chartered Chemist of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and a Fellow, Biomaterials Science and Engineering. BioMelbourne Network would also like to thank and acknowledge Nigel Baade, who resigned as a Director and Treasurer of the BioMelbourne Network Board at the 2020 Annual General Meeting. Since his appointment to the Board in 2015, Nigel has made valuable contributions to the organisation and the greater health sector.
