The Position

BioCurate is a bold, collaborative venture, dedicated to translating Australian medical research and delivering health and economic benefits to the world. The team work closely with the shareholder universities and directly with researchers to provide funding and industry-based drug development expertise to generate commercial interest in selected research programs for future impactful outcomes.

BioCurate seeks to appoint a Chief Operating Officer (part-time) and trusted advisor to the CEO, to provide strategic leadership and high-level operational expertise, supporting the implementation of the newly developed strategic plan. As a key member of the Executive team, working closely with CEO, Senior Executives and Board, the COO will lead the change management required to engage and support the organisation as it navigates this dynamic and ambitious journey. The COO will provide high level oversight of the core functional areas (including finance, legal, IT) and contribute to ensuring strong relationships are in place with shareholders and other key stakeholders.

Successful outcomes in the role will be driven through applying a strong track record and expertise from senior operational leadership roles within multifunctional operating environments, ideally across a combination of large and smaller start-up environments. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and the development and implementation of operational plans will be essential. Change management experience, to support teams to navigate change, ensuring a positive, dedicated and engaged culture will also be key. Personal attributes that will contribute to success in this role will be self-motivation, collaboration, solution focused, empathy and an innovative mindset. Tertiary qualifications in business and key operational areas of finance, legal and technology will be highly regarded.

The Organisation

BioCurate is a jointly founded organisation by Monash University and The University of Melbourne with support from the Victorian State Government. The aim of the organisation is to increase the number, quality, and rate of translation of new drug discoveries into high quality pre-clinical candidates. Operating independently, BioCurate works in the early phases of therapeutic development to drive early decisions and overcome common barriers to success.
