Celebrating remarkable women in healthtech

Posted: 25 May 2023

On Friday 19 May 2023, BioMelbourne Network hosted 590 amazing industry professionals at Connecting Women Lunch – our premier event of the year – and acknowledged remarkable women in healthtech.

A huge thank you to Associate Professor Misty Jenkins, from WEHI, for her powerful keynote speech about her science journey, gender bias and equity.

Misty’s presentation will no doubt inspire others to advocate for progress in these areas.

This year, we were fortunate that all three 2023 BioMelbourne Network Women in Leadership Awardees were able to join facilitator Janine Kirk AO ‘On the Couch’ to share their professional journeys and insights with everyone in the room.

Thank you Professor Sharon Lewin AO, Professor Susie Nilsson and Rima Darwiche for your candid comments.

At the Connecting Women Lunch, our CEO Jeff Malone presented Victoria’s Lead Scientist Dr Amanda Caples with a BioMelbourne Network Honorary Life Member Award for her exceptional service and longstanding support to the Victorian healthtech industry.

Congratulations Amanda on this accolade.

Our biggest charity fundraiser…ever!

Our charity partner for the 2023 Connecting Women Lunch was Dreams2Live4, an amazing organisation that grants dreams to people aged 17 years and over living with metastatic cancer, relapsed blood cancer and high-grade brain tumours.

We are thrilled to announce that we raised a remarkable $22,078 – our biggest charity fundraising in the history of the lunch.

Here is Jo O’Brien, our Events and Projects Manager, presenting the donation cheque to Ashleigh Dodson, Dreams2Live4 Dream Maker and registered nurse.

Dreams2Live4 are overwhelmed by your generosity and extend their deepest gratitude to everyone who donated.

If you were unable to donate at the event but would still like to, we welcome you to show your support for Dreams2Live4 via this link.

Many thanks also to all our Door Prize Donors who generously gifted wonderful door prizes to 13 lucky guests.
