Cartherics CEO Alan Trounson ranked among the world’s most prominent scientists

Posted: 4 April 2022

The respected scientific platform Research.com has published the 2022 Edition of its Ranking of Top 1000 Scientists in the area of Biology and Biochemistry. BioMelbourne Network Member Cartherics welcomes the findings.

In a notice to Cartherics CEO Professor Alan Trounson AO, chief data scientist Dr Imed Bouchrika wrote: “We are happy to inform you that you have ranked #931 in the world ranking and you are also listed #24 in Australia.”

The rankings are based on solid data. Research.com determines the rankings using H-index data gathered by Microsoft Academic. The index is, in turn, calculated on the number of papers, H, that have been cited at least H times. Research.com includes only “prominent scientists” with an H-index of at least 40 for scientific papers published in the field of Biology and Biochemistry.

Trounson falls within the category as his H-index is 93. It is based on papers he authored or co-authored throughout his career in IVF and stem cell research, not just recent publications.

For example, Trounson’s most cited publication, Embryonic stem cell lines from human blastocysts: somatic differentiation in vitro, was published in Nature in 2000. It received 2646 citations.

According to Research.com’s current rankings, Trounson has received 34,807 citations for 394 publications.

Bouchrika concluded: “We’d like to sincerely congratulate you for this achievement and we hope that the presence in the Research.com ranking is indeed an important accomplishment for you and your university or research institution.”
