Vera is a medical researcher and innovator focused on improving the lives of children via the field of paediatric haematology, and the broader context of biomarker discovery. She is currently the Associate Director for Translational Research at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, Professor of Paediatrics at Johns Hopkins University, as well as an Honorary Professor at the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne.
Vera has significant board and committee experience nationally and internationally, including as a Director of the Australian Society for Medical Research, Director of the Toyota Community Foundation Australia and Trustee of the Toyota Community Trust, as well as leadership roles at the Human Proteome Organisation and International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
She also represented Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games as a member of the Australian Handball Team.
