Andrew Wear

Andrew Wear was appointed to the Board of Directors in February 2022.

Andrew is a senior Australian public servant and author. Currently City Economist and Director of Economic Development and International at the City of Melbourne, he has extensive experience working for national and state governments and his last role was as Director of Innovation, Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions, with the Victorian government.

Andrew has degrees in politics, law, economics and public policy and is a graduate of the Senior Executive Fellows program at Harvard Kennedy School. He is a Victorian Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

A passionate supporter of equity in education, Andrew is also a non-executive Director of Ardoch Ltd, a children’s education charity.

His first book, “Solved! How other countries have cracked the world’s biggest problems (and we can too)”, was published in 2020 and has since been translated into multiple languages. His latest book, “Recovery. How we can create a better, brighter future after a crisis”, was published in September 2021. His work appears in peer-reviewed journals as well as in The Guardian, the Australian Financial Review and other publications.
