BioMelbourne Network’s response to COVID-19 – Message from the Chair

17 March 2020

As a sector, we are experiencing unprecedented disruption as a result of the fast moving and evolving COVID-19 situation. In line with our commitment to providing a safe environment for members, staff and the broader biomedical sector – and our civic responsibility to “flatten the curve” – we have taken a number of proactive measures to protect the health of the BioMelbourne Network community.

The BioMelbourne Network team will now be transitioning to work from home until further notice. During this time our staff will be contactable via the usual channels and all meetings will be undertaken virtually where possible. Throughout this transition and in the weeks ahead, we will continue to monitor government advice and adapt accordingly in line with official recommendations.

To achieve business continuity and resilience in this period of disruption we will utilise video and online technologies to collaborate and engage, both within our team and with our members and wider ecosystem. We are also working closely with members, stakeholders, event partners and sponsors to explore new initiatives and the opportunity to postpone and/or virtualise events where possible. Changes to our event program will be communicated to our network as they arise.

At BioMelbourne Network we are conscious of the impact of COVID-19 on the greater biomedical sector, including our member organisations. We encourage members and affiliations of our network to take their own steps towards reducing the impact of the virus and look forward to connecting with you online or over the phone during this time.

Look after yourselves and each other. Stay positive, proactive and agile as this situation unfolds. We will emerge stronger.

Best Regards,

Lusia Guthrie

Chair and Acting CEO
