ARC Future Fellows pave the way for Australian research

The Australian Research Council (ARC) will support 100 mid-career researchers to grow knowledge and innovation for the benefit of the Australian community by undertaking high quality research.

ARC Chief Executive Officer, Professor Sue Thomas, welcomed the announcement of the successful recipients of 2020 ARC Future Fellowships by Minister for Education Dan Tehan today.

Professor Thomas said that the ARC’s Future Fellowships scheme supports mid-career researchers to expand Australia’s knowledge base and research capacity which in turn will provide economic, commercial, environmental, social and/or cultural benefits for Australia.

“These new Future Fellowships are awarded to outstanding mid-career researchers, who will now receive funding support totalling $90.5m for the next four years to undertake their innovative research here in Australia,” Professor Thomas said.

“The Future Fellowships scheme encourages research in areas of national priority, with preference given to Australian researchers to provide opportunities to further their careers in Australia.

“I extend my congratulations to all of the 2020 Future Fellows announced today as they embark on their research.”
