April 2016
In April 2016, Dr Krystal Evans participated in a roundtable discussion on “Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship” in Canberra.
The aim of this roundtable was to bring together key representatives from Government, industry, research and education to discuss ways of encouraging more women to pursue STEM and entrepreneurial studies and careers, and eliminate the systemic and cultural barriers that deter or prevent them from doing so – with the ultimate aim of improving economic development, productivity, and opportunities for all Australians.
Discussion points included:
• Mapping the STEM and entrepreneurship ‘journey’: decision points, current initiatives, gaps
• A decadal plan for women in STEM and entrepreneurship
• Other opportunities
The outcomes of this discussion will be collated into an action plan.
