The Hon Martin Pakula, Minister for Jobs, Innovation and Trade, recently attended the kick-off of the Medtech Actuator’s first national sprint meeting and engaged with the MedTech Actuator Accelerator Program’s fourth cohort.
Following the Minister’s address, the early-stage MedTech startups pitched to the Minister and were given an opportunity to directly address their queries to the Minister in an informal Q&A session on topics that included: access to de-identified data, timeliness of communication around trade missions, the loss of talented PhD qualified talent overseas and transitioning to manufacturing.
The State Government of Victoria, through its trade branch Global Victoria, have also been busily preparing for the delivery of several key industry engagements scheduled for the coming months.
The ‘Global Biotech’ Program, scheduled to run just prior to the AusBiotech2019 Conference, will see over 40 international business delegates, across a range of industries including medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, visit Victoria throughout October. Delegates for the initiative will be coming from key global markets including the USA, Japan, Korea, India, China, Europe and Israel.
On Monday 28 October, Global Victoria will be hosting an Industry Day at the Investment Centre on Collins Street. This day will enable visiting international delegates to interact with our key players in the medical technologies and pharmaceuticals sectors of Victoria.
It is proposed that invited organisations will set up a small stand with their own collateral to showcase their area of expertise and Global Victoria will organise business matching based on delegate objectives.
Following the Global Industry Day, Global Victoria will be providing an opportunity for Victorian Life Science companies – those who are interested in exporting to China, Japan, Korea, India, the US and Latin America – to join the international trade and investment team in a symposium to discuss doing business in these key global markets.
The Symposium ‘Biotech Going Global’ will be held in the auditorium of the International Chamber House on 28 October from 3 – 5pm, with networking to follow.
This is a fabulous opportunity to talk directly with Global Victoria’s International Life Sciences team about conducting global business.
