The announcement of the latest round of NHMRC funding yesterday has again highlighted the strength of Melbourne’s medical research community.
Continuing the state’s unbroken record of receiving more than 40% of NHMRC competitive grant funding, researchers in Victoria received nearly half of the more than $526 million worth of grants that were awarded – almost twice that of the nearest state (New South Wales).
Monash University received nearly $76 million – the highest amount of funding for a single institution. The next highest amount (around $61 million) was received by the University of Melbourne.
In all, 13 BioMelbourne Network members received more than $231 million in funding:
Congratulations!
