Company Profile:

The Victorian Cancer Biobank is one the of largest coordinated network of research biobanks in Australia. The VCB is an open-access, not-for-profit consortium of tissue banks, supported by the Cancer Council Victoria and the Victorian Government.

The VCB collects and curates a diverse range of cancer specimens. Tissues with matching blood samples and clinical data are donated by consenting patients during the course of their normal treatment.

Since its establishment in 2006, the VCB has created a network of surgeons and specialists who routinely support tissue collection. The inventory continues to expand rapidly, both in its number and diversity of tumour samples. The VCB also has the infrastructure and expertise to prospectively collect particular samples on behalf of collaborative partners and process them using study specific protocols. DNA and RNA from blood and tissue, as well as custom tissue microarrays, can also be prepared.
