About the role

We are looking for a research assistant to join our growing team. We expect the RA to have recent experience in manually isolating PBMCs from whole blood, specifically human blood, and the cryopreservation and thawing of cells.

The ideal candidate will be expected to perform PBMC isolations from clinical trial samples for the majority of the working week. They will contribute their skills to a range of clinical trial studies, each with slightly different PBMC isolation processes and down-stream extractions and analysis. We are rapidly expanding our clinical services, so are keen for the candidate to start promptly. It is expected that the ideal candidate would spend 80% of their time working at the bench, and 20% on admin, in meetings and on Quality-related documentation.

Crux Biolabs is a specialist immunology contract research service that contributes to clinical and pre-clinical studies. Our team of scientists are experts at customizing biomarker detection and cell assays for a range of vaccine and pharma clients, mainly focused on infectious disease and oncology. Our laboratory in Bayswater, in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, is accredited by NATA to ISO/IEC 17025.

Essential:

  • At least 6 months’ experience performing PBMC processing, cryopreservation and thawing.
    • You must  provide details of:
      • Which isolation techniques you’ve used;
      • How many months’ or years’ experience and when the experience was; and
      • The maximum number of blood samples manually processed within one week.
  • Ability to work in Australia, commencing in the next 3 months. We are keen for the preferred candidate to start promptly.

Preferred:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.

Nice to have, but not essential:

  • ELISA and/or multiplex immunoassay, or ELISpot experience.
  • Experience working in a quality-controlled environment, preferably an accredited facility following ISO 17025, ISO 15289, GLP or similar.
