The COVID-19 outbreak has led to unfortunate circumstances – some of which have affected student internships in the Master of Biomedical and Health Sciences at Monash University. Placements were secured, however a lot of them have been understandably cancelled weeks before the commencement of the internship period (April 27th – June 19th).
We are finding alternative solutions for a lot of deserving Masters students who need to do this final hurdle before graduating. We are embracing online/remote internships that have the added benefit of social distancing, flexibility and cost effectiveness.
Could you support an eight-week internship for our students to do remotely?
Tasks could vary from:
– Data analysis, entry and cleaning
– Writing tasks: literature review, gap analysis, editorial work
– Content: scientific posters, articles, brochures for conferences, reports, online presentations, video creation, social media brand awareness
– Administrative tasks, archiving, establishing new processes
– Small project management
or any other tasks that could be done from home
Ideally, the students would interact (online) with the hosts 1-2 times a week for supervision and updates on progress. This allows students to get experience and feedback to shape their professional behaviours. Interns would work 7.5 hours, 5 days a week during normal business hours, but that is subject to variation as stipulated by the host organisation.
These are difficult times, but the Masters students look forward to gaining some type of experience in the workplace. Please contact course coordinator, Ramesh Rajan (email@example.com) or Pippa Iva (firstname.lastname@example.org; 0420 653 560) if you are interested or require more information.
