After five decades of the evolution of synthetic DNA biology, our client has developed products that are new, innovative and disrupting DNA synthesis. They are the first company to successfully marry small scale engineering with biology to commercialize silicon-based production of DNA. Synthetic biologists will use their products to engineer how organisms produce cures to diseases, make everyday chemicals by using the atmosphere as the carbon source, enable plants to make their own fertilizers, and to create in-vivo diagnostics that alert us when we are sick, and many more applications.
Your remit will be to act as the primary technical field contact for customers and to be an integral part of their Sales team. You will liaise between the customer and our client, and take responsibility for the pre- and post-sales technical support and market development activities for their complex products that include gene synthesis, custom DNA libraries, oligo pools, and Next Generation Sequencing. (NGS)
The Ideal Candidate
To have the privilege of joining this expanding & innovative team, you will be an outstanding solution focused Field Applications Scientist with a demonstrated high level of professional success. Your key remit includes:
♦ Provide applications support for pre-& post sales activities for our client’s product portfolio of NGS Target Enrichment
♦ Identify, nurture, and manage collaborations to network and provide leads for the sales team
♦ Support the sales team in technical discussions, presentations, and meetings with customers
♦ Provide high level technical support to customers in design requirements and providing guidance on experiments
♦ Liaise between customer, sales team, product management, and other internal teams including R&D and Production.
♦ Network with customers and provide feedback to Product Marketing on customer requirements for new applications or products
♦ Keep informed of competitive market information at industry seminars, trade shows, and conferences and provide reports on trends to Sales and Product Management
♦ Local and regional travel (30-50% time) to work in the field with Sales, attend meetings with key customers, provide training, and participate in trade shows
♦ Keep abreast of all research development in the field and summarize for the team
♦ Identify unmet customer needs to enable the development of new & innovative products.
♦ Knowledge of competitor products and their commercial strategies.
♦ Master’s in Life Sciences e.g. Molecular Biology, Biochemistry. Protein Chemistry, Biology, PhD preferred.
♦ 5 years commercial experience preferably working with NGS products
♦ Previous laboratory experience in NGS preferable
♦ A passion to provide a very high standard of customer service
♦ Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
♦ Experience in a customer support role and use of CRM system a plus
