Optiscan Imaging Ltd (ASX:OIL) is a global leader in the development of microscopic imaging and related technologies for surgery and medical research. Based in Melbourne, Optiscan was established in 1994 and listed on the ASX in 1997. We have developed and patented endomicroscopic technology which allows real-time, 3D, ‘in vivo’ imaging of human tissue at the cellular level enabling instant digital biopsies for cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the activities of a multidisciplinary Engineering team to ensure product design and development meet regulatory requirements and project timelines. Depending on your Engineering qualifications there is an opportunity to tailor the position to best utilise your skills.

  • Manage the activities of the engineering team to meet required outcomes;
  • Direct and prioritise engineering team resources to implement approved projects to customer requirements within required timelines and technical requirements;
  • Ensure designed and developed products are fit for purpose with regard to functionality, reliability and cost, and meet regulatory requirements;
  • Manage the technical risk profile of development work, consulting internally and externally to identify risks and taking prudent risk mitigation actions;
  • Provide technical direction and organising and facilitating technical interdisciplinary discussions, and liaising with production, applications and marketing teams for overall outcome success;
  • Perform as a project manager on any project that management assigns;
  • Manage the company’s patent portfolio.

Your Profile:

  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation;
  • Team player – you thrive when working autonomously but can contribute to a cohesive team environment for collective success;
  • Track record in managing the activities of a research and development team in a medtech/biotech industry;
  • Strong team leadership skills and ability to engage and influence;
  • Track record in designing and developing medical products that are fit for customer purpose and meet regulatory requirements;
  • Experience in working with a Quality Management System such as for Medical Devices (ISO 13485) or other relevant system;
