About mRNA Victoria

mRNA Victoria is a newly formed body that is responsible for driving the development and delivery of the Victorian Government’s agenda, to establish a world class supply chain for mRNA research, commercialisation and manufacturing in Victoria. Leveraging the states significant scientific expertise, mRNA Victoria will partner with Universities, research institutes and industry across the globe to accelerate onshore mRNA manufacturing.  The body has been established, to not only create a new frontier for vaccine development but to create a more robust defence against future pandemics and a promising new weapon, in the fight against cancer and other diseases.

About the role

Providing high-level strategic and expert advice to the Minister, CEO and senior executives, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) will work closely with a Scientific Advisory Group of technical experts and Industry Panel on mRNA research initiatives, industry capability, trends and strategic opportunities.  The COO will identify opportunities to inform strategies and approaches for Government to strengthen and support mRNA research and industry capability in Victoria and lead the development of framework, policies and processes in line with the Departments priorities and direction.

With relevant tertiary qualifications and executive experience, you will have extensive expertise in understanding the scientific research and pharmaceutical manufacturing landscape in Victoria.   In addition, you will have a proven ability to lead and build strong multidisciplinary teams of professionals to negotiate, influence and build consensus at the most senior levels across government, industry and community stakeholders.
