Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research seeks to appoint a strategic, collaborative and talented executive to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Building on the legacy of partnership and impact, the CEO will lead commercial and operational outcomes to support world class insights and discoveries to radically transform better health outcomes for the community.
Working in a collaborative partnership with the Institute Director, Professor Les Bokey, the CEO will champion strategic, operational and commercial excellence, to continue the attraction of research groups, external partnerships and funding opportunities, enabling the future direction and expansion of the Institute. This will include the ongoing development of key partnerships with industry, start-ups, universities, hospitals and the local healthcare community to support the rapid growth of the Institute. The CEO will provide strategic oversight to ensure the delivery of current infrastructure projects, across multiple sites, as the Institute expands to a network of medical research centres of excellence.
The CEO will be visionary and future focused with a contemporary and collegiate style. Driving a culture of commitment, collaboration, innovation and impact, the CEO will be an experienced senior executive with a strong strategic and operational lens. With the ability to build key relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, the CEO will demonstrate the gravitas and political nous necessary to win hearts and minds. The CEO will have a deep connection to the core values that underpin the work of the Institute and staff, that drives the achievement of breakthrough medical research transforming community wellbeing locally and globally.
Key attributes that will contribute to the success of this role will include exceptional communication and influencing skills, commitment, passion and drive to make a difference in the sector. Experience from health, medical research institutes or related government departments, with a strong understanding of the health system will be critical for success in this role.
The Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research conducts world leading and ground-breaking medical research, developing treatments from the latest breakthroughs and translating them into real-world treatments in real time. Founded with the generosity of two great Australian philanthropists, the institute has close and productive relationships with South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) and partnerships with multiple universities including University of New South Wales and Western Sydney University.
Ensuring that applied medical research can inform clinical practice to support future health needs, the Institute is strategically expanding its footprint. Currently housed in a state of the art, purpose-built research facility at the Liverpool Hospital campus, the Institute is under expansion and will become a multi-centred Institute across three campuses in the coming years.
