Posted: 15 December

Campus Plus, Science & Technology Australia, and Cruxes Innovation are delighted to have been chosen to deliver the new National Industry PhD program for the Department of Education.

The National Industry PhD Program will powerfully connect industry with PhD scholars and the research sector.

It will create transformative opportunities for industry professionals to do a career-enhancing PhD, and for PhD scholars to do industry-focused research and training as part of their PhD.

The delivery partners will leverage their deep knowledge of the education and research sector, industry connections, communications and marketing reach, and innovative training and coaching.

Campus Plus, which will lead the consortium, was selected for its immense experience in industry engagement; strategic partnership creation, researcher commercialisation training and mentoring, technology transfer, and commercialisation.

“We’re delighted to deliver the National Industry PhD program on behalf of the Federal Government’s Department of Education,” said Campus Plus Founder and CEO Nick McNaughton.

“This program is a landmark in the drive to commercialise more of our great Australian research. It will turbo-charge the PhD community’s engagement with industry, and greatly simplify the process for industry to reach into the country’s deep research expertise.”

Science & Technology Australia is the nation’s peak body for the science and technology sector, representing 120 member organisations and over 105,000 science and technology professionals.

STA will deliver the National Industry PhD Program’s communications, marketing and outreach, drawing on its deep connections across the research sector.

“We are thrilled to be part of the consortium delivering this important program for the Department of Education,” said Science & Technology Australia President Professor Mark Hutchinson.

“STA has consistently advocated for initiatives that help to bridge the ‘valley of death’ in commercialisation and close the gaps between industry and the nation’s powerful research sector.”

“The National Industry PhD program will be an essential part of that economy-boosting change. STA has strong links to researchers and industry through our immense membership base and networks.”

Cruxes Innovation brings deep expertise in training and coaching researchers to develop the skills and confidence to build sustained partnerships with industry, community groups, and government agencies to solve real-world problems. Cruxes will deliver the National Industry PhD Program’s researcher training programs.

“We are thrilled to be part of the consortium delivering the National Industry PhD program,” said Cruxes Innovation’s co-founder and partner Emily Chang.

“This program will break down barriers between the research sector and industry. Cruxes Innovation is delighted to bring its expertise in helping researchers develop the skills to create and build high-value relationships with industry to this important program.”
