The Opportunity

The Monash Institute of Medical Engineering (MIME) fosters and coordinates translational MedTech research across Monash University faculties, partner hospitals, and collaborating medical research institutions. Through a formal alliance with Monash Partners (MP) Academic Health Sciences Centre, MIME has extensive clinical networks across Australia through which to draw clinical expertise and innovation. MIME’s clinician-led research programs focus on major clinical and health system needs and integrate expertise from across engineering, IT, art and design, science, biomedical and clinical research to develop new devices, diagnostics, therapeutics, delivery systems, and clinical tools. MIME works in close partnership with industry, hospitals, and partner research organisations.

Meaningful opportunities for commercialisation of innovative research and development are crucial to realising the Strategic Mission of MIME. Connecting Monash University and industry partners in a cooperative, collaborative manner to allow access to commercial opportunities and emerging technology platforms are essential for the success of MIME-funded research projects.

The Business Development and Platforms Manager works with the MIME Co-Directors and Management Team to identify and develop collaborative research grant and industry engagement opportunities between external agencies, both public and private, and the University (in particular MIME and its partner Faculties).

The Business Development Manager will also assist Enterprise colleagues with the commercialisation of intellectual property generated in whole or in part in MIME.

This Business Development Manager is central to the delivery of the MIME research strategy and supports the achievement of Monash Partners’ and MIME’s strategic objectives and the enhancement of MIME’s position and profile as a leading centre for collaboration and research translation within national and international MedTech networks.
