The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is a key pillar of the Fourth Industrial Evolution (Industry 4.0). It aims to achieve direct information exchange between industrial machines, people, and processes. By tapping into and analysing such data with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), IIoT can more importantly provide for significant improvements in productivity, product quality, and safety via proactive detection of problems in the performance and reliability of production machines, workers, and industrial processes.
Manufacturing plants rely on AI to integrate data, analyse it, and produce the deep insights and predictions that help drive better decision-making. ML is the type of AI that requires big datasets to identify patterns and trends, then uses them to build models for future predictions. Hosted by the Advanced Manufacturing Industry 4.0 Hub at Swinburne University, the webinar will describe the role of AI/ML in Manufacturing with some case studies in the context of Industry 4.0.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Forkan is a Senior Research Fellow in AI and ML in the Swinburne Digital Innovation Lab. He has expert knowledge on ML with significant experience developing AI-based solutions in digital health, FinTech, Agriculture, Education, and Industry 4.0 application areas. He has completed more than 15 industry funded research projects which focus on solving real-life applications using AI techniques. In the Swinburne Digital Innovation Lab, he is working on research translation in multi-disciplinary research. His research excellence in AI and ML is demonstrated by publications in high impact factor journals and top conferences. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from RMIT University, Australia. His research interests include data science, health informatics, pervasive computing, and applied AI.
Who should attend?
