Applications open for Victorian Government Women’s Board Leadership Program

26 August 2019

Nominations close: Tuesday 10 September 2019

What is the Women’s Board Leadership Program?

The Women’s Board Leadership Program encourages women to serve, stay, and excel on community and government boards.

The program offers a range of governance courses from the Australian Institute of Company Directors to develop women’s governance knowledge and leadership skills.

Why is the Victorian Government running this program?

The Victorian Government has committed that no less than 50% of appointments to paid government boards will be women, because our boards should reflect the Victorian community.

Promoting gender equality on Victorian community and government boards improves the social performance of organisations, supports innovation and decision-making, and enhances board effectiveness and financial performance.

Gender equality on community and government boards also promotes women’s leadership in Victoria, and challenges gender stereotypes that are a key contributor to family violence and other forms of violence against women.

Why should you apply?

You will:

  • get relevant governance training suited to your level of board experience
  • build confidence, skills and knowledge to progress a board career
  • make supportive relationships with other women on boards
  • become more attractive to board selectors and recruitment companies

The 2019 Women’s Board Leadership Program Applications are now open and closes on 10 September
