The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Research Scientist to join our Antibody Technologies Group on a 12-month fixed-term maternity leave cover. Based in our Research Department at the Bio21 Institute in Parkville, you will apply high quality molecular biology skills in the specialist area of recombinant antibody technologies, focusing on the selection from phage display human antibody libraries and protein engineering of recombinant antibodies.  Under the guidance of senior members of the group you will become a key player in the optimisation of lead antibody drug candidates for human diseases with high, unmet medical needs.

The Role
It is the successful candidate’s responsibility to:

  • Provide relevant scientific and technical knowledge of molecular cloning and biochemical characterisation of recombinant antibodies.
  • Explore and establish new research techniques and processes in collaboration with senior colleagues.
  • Participate at research group meetings and reviews as
  • Share expertise and develop strong working relationships with team
  • Ensure the effective management of all laboratory and project documentation.

To be successful
The applicant must possess the following qualifications and skills: 

  • PhD or equivalent qualifications, backed with relevant and demonstrated expertise in an academic or industry environment.
  • Ability to work independently, outstanding attention to detail, time management and organisational skills are complemented by your excellent communication skills.
  • Recent PhD graduates with relevant molecular biology skills who are highly motivated are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with protein display technologies and/or previous work with antibodies will be highly regarded.
