Melbourne Bioinformatics is providing a world-class high performance computing facility and research support, outreach and skills development services which are devoted to Computational Biology, Bioinformatics and Computational Imaging. The Victorian Government has committed $50m to the project. It is hosted at The University of Melbourne and serves all Victorian Life Science researchers and their collaborators. The first IBM Research Collaboratory devoted to Life Sciences is co-located at Melbourne Bioinformatics also. It joins a growing network of leading Victorian institutions which are developing life scientists of the future, attracting industry to Victoria and improving our health.
