GSK is a science-led healthcare company operating in more than 100 countries around the world. Our mission is to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer. Here in Australia, we have a proud history dating back to the early 1900s. Today, our 1240 local employees work to deliver access to medicines, vaccines and healthcare products; to manufacture $461 million in exports for 58 countries; and to conduct over $40 million in research and development.
We research and develop a broad range of innovative products in three primary areas of Pharmaceuticals, Vaccines and Consumer Healthcare. Through our Pharmaceuticals business, we provide access to medicines to treat a broad range of acute and chronic diseases. These include respiratory diseases, skin conditions and viral infections.
In Australia our vaccines portfolio helps prevent illnesses such as hepatitis, rotavirus and HPV infections, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, measles, mumps, rubella, bacterial meningitis and influenza, and through the private market and as a major supplier of the National Immunisation Program, we protect millions of Australians each year.
Through our Consumer business, we develop and market a range of over-the-counter consumer healthcare products across oral health, pain relief, nutritional/gastrointestinal, respiratory and skin health. Panadol, Sensodyne and Macleans are some of our well known consumer healthcare brands in Australia.
We recognise our responsibility and seek to be constructive policy partners on issues affecting our patients and their access to new and innovative medicines, vaccines and consumer healthcare products.
