Job: Business Development Associate – Regional Trials Network

Located in the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) Building in Parkville, Cancer Trials Australia (CTA) is a member-based, not-for-profit organisation which provides a comprehensive cancer clinical trials administrative service for its clinical members.

CTA is working in close collaboration with Border Medical Oncology and six other regional clinical trial units on a Cancer Council Victoria grant-funded project aimed at improving access to high quality cancer clinical trials at Victorian regional hospitals.

In this newly created Business Development Associate role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing key relationships with various stakeholders, and to actively pursue new studies to increase the portfolio of cancer clinical trials undertaken by regional hospitals.

We are seeking a dynamic and driven individual who thrives on the challenge of cultivating new business opportunities.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing growth strategies aligned to the regional trial units’ strategic plans;
  • Seeking every opportunity to promote regional members and increase their profile within the industry; and
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders.

This position will require some travel, largely within Victoria.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in the Health, Science or Business fields;
  • At least 5 years’ relevant work experience gained within the clinical trials industry, either in a  hospital / research institute or pharmaceutical environment;
  • A thorough understanding of the processes involved in conducting clinical trials, preferably in relation to cancer;
  • Strong business acumen with ability to proactively identify business opportunities;
  • Proven ability to work at a strategic level;
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiations skills; and
  • Demonstrated relationship management experience.
