19th September – BioBriefing – Data Security – Current developments & keeping your data out of the wrong hands

“The cyber-attack led to a disruption of our worldwide operations, including research”  – Merck, following the June 27, 2017 malware attack.

Data security is critical to many aspects of the biotechnology, medical technology and pharmaceutical sector – from protecting IP and trade secrets, stewardship of clinical and patient data and ensuring the integrity of company information. It should cause us to reconsider how we describe risk, think about what it means to be secure, and the tools we use to stay safe.

In this BioBriefing, Warren Dunn, Fraud Investigations and Dispute Services Partner at EY and Alec Christie, Digital Law Partner at EY, will discuss the issues of cyber security, data stewardship and what the life sciences sector needs to be aware of with the new mandatory data breach laws coming into effect in Australia.  They will also provide a case study to examine how an organisation dealt with data breaches.
